Katherine
Katherine belongs to the Branches’ Florida City Climb program and is currently in the 6th Grade. Katherine has been a student at Branches since she moved to the United States a few years ago. One day after school, Katherine showed up at Branches very sad because she had received an F on a math test focused on fractions. What we discovered was that Katherine missed out entirely on the fraction lessons at school due to COVID. Ms. Annabelle (our front desk receptionist by the way) became Katherine’s fraction tutor. Using a Hershey chocolate bar in creative ways, Katherine began the fraction learning journey. By the end of the semester and after many tutoring sessions (and perhaps too many chocolate bars!), she achieved a B on her final math test! We are so proud of Katherine and understand that often students need someone to truly invest time in them so they can be successful and continue to stay motivated on their academic journeys.
