Rita

Rita, a 17-year-old senior at Keys Gate High School, has been a part of the Branches family since she joined Branches’ Summer Shade Camp in 2007. Known for her willingness and joy, Rita has grown into a bright, caring individual and an advocate for both herself and others. As she spends her final year at Branches, she continues to shine in various capacities.

Rita’s involvement with Branches extends beyond the regular programs. She has been volunteering on Sundays and has taken a significant step in her faith journey by leading the Branches United Methodist Church Children’s Sunday School. In this role, she pours into the elementary and middle school students, teaching them stories from the Bible and serving as a positive role model.

Rita was also selected as a Branches’ Summer Shade Camp Guide for the summer of 2024 and has been able to grow in her leadership skills. Rita has risen up to the challenge to train, lead and direct newer Summer Shade Camp guides as well as teaching them how to best work with the elementary students they care for during the summer.

Additionally, Rita participated in the “BOSS UP” entrepreneurial program hosted at Branches Florida City, where she was encouraged to develop a sweets business. Through this program, she launched her Instagram page and began building her clientele with new and delicious treats. Her business, “De’Sweets,” is a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.

Academically, Rita is an excellent student, with a weighted GPA of 4.0 and an unweighted GPA of 3.20. Her achievements reflect her hard work and commitment to her education. Rita’s journey with Branches showcases her growth, leadership, and the impact of a supportive community.
