COVID-19 Response

Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, Branches has worked tirelessly to serve the Miami-Dade community. In 2020, we ramped up our meal service and provided over 29,000 grab-and-go meals to our children and families. Within 24 hours of the schools closing in March, Branches’ Grow & Climb student services team began connecting with children, youth and families via phone calls, text messages and Zoom meetings. The team launched online events and activities to continue to keep all our students engaged as much as possible. Socially distanced on-site services resumed that August.

The Achieve team provided financial wellness services through Zoom meetings and phone calls, providing financial coaching, small business and emergency assistance. In 2020 alone, our Achieve staff provided over 4,800 virtual meetings with participants and Business Coaching sessions to over 1,250 small businesses. Branches was also one of the first few sites in Florida to reopen and provide in-person VITA tax prep services in April of 2020.
