Edgar
At just five years old, Edgar Corona was already looking up to his older brother, Jefry, who was a regular participant in Branches’ Grow Program. Edgar admired the fun his brother Jefry was having at Branches and all of the new things he was learning, and it wasn’t long before he wanted to join in the experience himself.
When Edgar joined the Branches Summer Shade Camp, he quickly became immersed in the activities designed to foster early literacy. He eagerly participated in the Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) sessions, where he was introduced to the alphabet and early reading skills through interactive and playful learning. Edgar’s days were filled with letter recognition games, storytelling sessions, and hands-on exercises that made learning both enjoyable and effective.
Over the summer, Edgar’s progress was remarkable. He mastered the ability to identify all the letters of the alphabet and, by the end of the program, had achieved reading skills at a kindergarten level. This accomplishment meant that Edgar was ready to start school with a solid foundation, armed with both confidence and a newfound enthusiasm for learning.
The impact of Edgar’s achievements extended beyond him; his family celebrated his progress, with Jefry proudly cheering on his younger brother’s success.
