Jazmin

Jazmin is an inspiring example of perseverance and dedication. Graduating in May 2023 from University of Central Florida (UCF) with a degree in Education, and an associate degree from Miami-Dade College (MDC), Jazmin accomplished this impressive feat debt-free.

Her journey with Branches began in her senior year of high school, class of 2019. From the moment she joined, Jazmin embraced every opportunity Branches offered, wishing she had known about the program sooner. Her involvement became a cornerstone of her academic and personal growth.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Branches provided Jazmin with a quiet space, reliable internet, snacks, and friends, allowing her to continue her classes uninterrupted. The support she received during this challenging time was crucial to her success.

In 2021, Branches helped Jazmin and her family by fixing a plumbing issue in their home that had persisted for over a year, requiring them to use a bucket to shower. This critical repair took place during MLK weekend, demonstrating Branches’ commitment to supporting their participants in meaningful ways.

Jazmin’s dedication to giving back to the community is evident. Despite attending UCF in Orlando, Florida, she returns every year to serve at Branches’ Thanksgiving Meal Delivery and Branches’ Oasis Spring Break Camp, showing her gratitude and commitment to the organization that helped shape her future.

At Branches, Jazmin discovered her passion and purpose: teaching. As the first in her family to graduate, she serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Despite facing the tragic loss of her father when she was young, Jazmin has risen above her circumstances, finding strength and purpose through education and community service. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of support, resilience, and determination. Now, Jazmin prepares to begin her journey as a teacher at Spring Lake Elementary School in Orlando, teaching 3rd grade.
