2026 Martin Luther King, Jr.
National Service Day
January 19th, 2026
In partnership with AmeriCorps, Branches honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 19th, 2026, through a day of community service at all three sites: Branches Florida City, Branches South Miami, and Branches Lakeview. Volunteers played a vital role in supporting service projects that uplifted students, families, and neighborhoods across our communities.
Branches Florida City celebrated its 16th Annual Florida City, Love Yourself MLK Day by beautifying the Branches Florida City site and Homestead Middle School. Through hands-on volunteer projects—including cleaning the grounds, painting, and building new planters—the Florida City team honored Dr. King’s legacy by creating brighter, more welcoming spaces for students and the surrounding community. Volunteers from Mandarin United Methodist Church, United Wesley FIU, and Somerset Academy South Homestead generously contributed their time and energy to support this effort.
Branches South Miami celebrated MLK Day by partnering with the City of South Miami to host the city’s annual MLK Freedom Breakfast. Volunteers supported the event by serving breakfast to residents and guests, helping foster community connection through service.
Branches Lakeview marked its 8th Annual United We Stand MLK Day of Service by beautifying Branches Lakeview and Branches Lakeview Elementary. Volunteers supported hands-on projects including cleaning, painting, and beautifying the grounds at Branches Lakeview, as well as painting and building flower beds at Branches Elementary—creating more welcoming spaces for students and the surrounding community. Branches was grateful for the volunteers from Wells Fargo, Unity on the Bay, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Pi Delta Omega Chapter for lending their time and dedication.
